Foley

A “Lense Flare” FILM
WRITTEN BY Jared Kahi, Johnny Barker and Brendon Morrow

Ben is a talented young sound engineer who works long, merciless hours in a busy post-production studio. Dedicated to his job, he dreams of becoming a head sound designer or composer for film. But his hopes of a promotion are continuously deflated by his controlling and manipulative production manager.

Frustrated, Ben is relegated to tiresome studio grunt-work including his least favourite job, Foley; the process of manually re-creating and re-recording physical sound effects to enhance the final soundtrack of a film such as footsteps or a closing door.

Forced to work extra hours for an unrealistic deadline, Ben works the graveyard shift at the dark, windowless and eerily silent recording studio; a disturbing place to find yourself alone at night.

Overworked and overtired, his mind begins to mess with his sense of logic. One morning after a torturous all-night session, he awakens to discover the unthinkable… he has no foley! His footsteps cannot be heard; nothing he touches makes any sound. How is this possible, and how will he reach his deadline if he is unable to create sound?

An odd yet familiar stranger he encounters may hold the key to the mystery, but not without certain costs. What is Ben prepared to risk to get back what was taken from him?
