Strange things have been happening at The Primrose, a 100 year old high-end departmental store in downtown Auckland. Shadowy figures lurking around the women’s changing rooms have been reported, and a hideous cackle can often be heard late at night from the building’s attic.
Is it the spirit of jilted lover? A beast on the prowl?
No, it’s only Alfie, an aimless slacker perennially dressed in silk robes who happens to the sole heir to The Primrose. Alfie lives in the attic of the building, ogling at female shoppers by day and getting drunk on vintage whiskey by night. Life would be perfect if only he had a Queen of his own.
Meet May, a mysterious socialite with a double identity who spends her time splurging on luxury items at with stolen credit cards. Smitten by May’s deadpan wit and unaware of her secret life, Alfie falls head over heels in love with this icy beauty.
Meanwhile, a plot is brewing to deprive Alfie of his inheritance and turn the Primrose into a multi-storey parking lot. Between winning the girl of his dreams and protecting his family legacy, Alfie must finally discard his damn silk robe and confront the realities of life.
