Paralysis

A girl suffering from sleep paralysis becomes haunted by the malevolent entity she thought was a hallucination, only to find its existence is as real as her fears.

A “Rachel Fawcett” FILM
WRITTEN BY Rachel Fawcett

After ALLY (21) begrudgingly moves in with her mother and her new boyfriend, she begins to experience terrifyingly realistic hallucinations during episodes of sleep paralysis. At first thinking it to be just part of the sleep disorder, combined with the stress of moving and upcoming exams, Ally becomes increasingly anxious when the evil entity she sees in her dreams, begins to permeate her every waking moment.

After a particularly frightening incident in the paralysis state, Ally awakens to find visible bruise marks around her neck. Finally convinced the entity is real, Ally buries herself in demonology research hoping to find answers. Upon discovering an old newspaper article about an Auckland man who inexplicably died in his sleep after complaining of night terrors, she tracks down his widow. Ally learns through the woman that her husband’s cause of death was never resolved, but that she believes it was caused by the demonic presence he became obsessed with. Worried that she may also fall victim to the same demon, Ally seeks out a Professor of Demonology at her university who could hold the answer to end her suffering.

With every new revelation, Ally discovers her options are limited, and the demonic force is only growing closer to claiming her life forever.
