Stabbers

A group of friends take an off season break at a secluded batch, only to find themselves the last people alive at stabageddon.

A “Jodhi Hoani” FILM
WRITTEN BY Patric Kickham

Hamish, Lead Guitar and founding member of “Eschaton Dub”, is at a loose end having lost his job at Video Ezy. His best mate, Keyboard Baz, seeing the silver in every cloud, convinces Hamish and the rest of “Eschaton Dub” to take an impromptu, off season holiday to his uncle’s secluded batch up north, to work on their second album.

Everything goes smoothly, nigh on blissfully, they eat and drink too much, watch falling stars and make music.

Late on the second night of the getaway, a crazed and dishevelled man shows up at their door, begging for a place on their boat. Their pleas of ignorance serve to enrage him and violence ensues. With numbers on their side, they manage to restrain him and tie him to a chair. Upon interrogation, he offers them a ludicrous story of earth invasion by hand sized robotic alien insectoids, The Stabbers. According to his testimony, anyone stabbed by a stabber is, within hours, transformed into more stabbers. Society has crumbled, mankind is in ruins, and the only escape is out to sea.

Jarvis, the drummer, and least mentally stable member of “Eschaton Dub” takes exception to the implausible nature of the interlopers tale and renders him unconscious. Debate ensues amongst the band, and with no way to confirm any elements of the stranger’s claims, they take the ravings of a mad man at face value, draw up a guard rota and pledge to transport their captive to the hands of the authorities at daybreak.

Hamish draws the short straw of first watch, and some time later, his friends asleep, he blinks for what seems like a moment and wakes to the screams.

The stabbers are in the house.
