The Legacy of Baby J

When a mysterious terminally ill patient draws Caroline, a young doctor, into a world of infanticide, organ theft and an old family curse she soon finds the lines between life and death blurring and discovers that she carries an awful secret inside her that is almost too evil to escape.

A “Dion Paz” FILM
WRITTEN BY Katie Woodhouse

Dr Caroline Harris understands the fragile line between life, death and reality. At only one year of age she received a heart transplant that without, she wouldn’t have made it to her next birthday, then again at age at eighteen she was diagnosed as bipolar after trying to drive her car through a brick wall, convinced she could teleport.

Yet she beat the odds and now works in the same hospital where she almost died twice. Firmly tethered to reality by long working hours, sick patients and a daily dose of lithium. That is until she meets Rita.

Rita is her newest patient. In her sixties, demented and dying of an operable brain tumour, she babbles on incessantly about wicked men, murdered babies and demons in between bouts of shrieking and throwing her own faeces.

After Caroline’s first frightful encounter with Rita in which she leapt out of bed from her coma like state to hiss, spit and claw at Caroline’s chest, strange events have begun happening on the ward. Patient’s report dark shadows at their bed ends and babies crying in the corridors at night. The nurses whisper about curses and Rita becomes more and more violent.

As Caroline delves deeper into Rita’s past she discovers more than she bargained for. Not only is Rita the mother of the infant whose heart she received, but the other transplant recipients have begun committing suicide in the most macabre of manners, cutting the donated organs from their very own bodies…

The more Caroline learns, the more disturbing the truth becomes and she soon finds herself staring down at her chest as she slowly buries a long blade into the faint scar she has carried since childhood… the curse has been awoken and only Caroline can put it to rest.
