Adrift in Paradise.

A “Woolshed Productions.” FILM
WRITTEN BY R.B.

An unmanageable auckland girl, Jessie, is sent by her mother to an idyllic community in a remote part of the Coromandel Peninsula. Disconnected from her world and with nowhere else to go she is forced to come to terms with the consequences of her actions.

She slowly settles into the routine of rural life, but soon finds life at the community has a dark side. One day she encounters a child stumbling along the river bank - dazed and confused the child has no memory of what has happened.
She resolves to discover the truth. She enlists Rimu, a charming boy who aspires to be the best dope grower in the whole region, to help her in her quest to find the truth.

She follows a trail of clues leading to the local doctor who has been drugging and abusing the children. In her confrontation with the Doctor, Rimu is wounded and she is chased through the bush.

When he finally catches Jessie, she fights bitterly for her life and manages to knock out the doctor with a rock.

The doctor is jailed, but receives a minimal sentence. Inspired to make a difference in the world Jessie hitches out of the community.
