Aipotu

A “EarthAuckland” FILM
WRITTEN BY Charlie Reinking

Aipotu is a story set on the magical Hokianga Harbour.
It is the adventure of KIRI TAHANUI a young Maori woman whose life changes when she meets zany English archaeologist LUCY VALENTINE. Together they race against time to find the secret of an ancient technological device brought to the Hokianga in the distant past.
A myth recites that the ancient Phoenicians used a similar device for the betterment of their people and so the story begins.
In 1978 SCIENTISTS at a struggling Russian base on the Antarctic ice discover a strange object frozen for eons in a crevice. The Russians sell the object to the Auckland museum whose Curator RUPERT PARKER knows more than he is willing to let on.
Kiri unwittingly discovers an object matching that stored in the Auckland Museum which she shows to Lucy Valentine.
Rupert Parker reckons he has found the remains of an ancient settlement on the shores of the Hokianga. Lucy Valentine knows this too and disappears to discover the secrets hidden there.
That's when JAMES RYAN an out of work merchant banker from Auckland stumbles across Kiri's secret when he makes a trip up North to visit his fathers grave.
Then a strange, brutal, foreboding FANATIC, hears of the discoveries and makes plans to retrieve the artifacts at any cost.
