Bird Land

A “Sea of Trees” FILM
WRITTEN BY John Friedrick

Bird Land

Auckland Airport. Three Swedish tourists arrive. They have been traveling the world hunting rare birds.
They plan to shoot to kill two of New Zealand's most beloved, the Kakapo and the Kiwi.
At a nightclub one drunkenly brags of their plan, and word finds it's way to Billy.
Billy is a member of a small hardcore animal rights group, specializing in direct action.
Three members of this group decide to track the Swedes into the heartland, with the idea to stop the hunt by
any means necessary. Billys' younger brother joins them to keep a video record of the events.
Two groups enter the forest. Soon followed by a third. A family of pig hunters with an 8 year old girl along for her "first kill".
The usually quiet forest is suddenly alive with movement.
Already deep inside is a teacher and his students on a school camp.
High above in the trees the birds watch and wait for the outcome.
