In 1773 lived the greatest chief and his warriors whom were undefeated in battle.One evening the chief overhears Tohunga(witchdoctors)chanting without his authorisation which he sends his warriors to behead all involved.
An enemy chief and five tohunga were found and executed but the curse was set,(When the women and children of the mighty chiefs tribe fall asleep their spirits shall leave their bodies and never return).
Approx 250 years later; Brothers Earl and Rewi are hunting when they spot a boar 50 metres away standing at a cliff edge.They shoot directly through the chest to which it stumbles off rolling down a 10 metre drop.
They arrive to the spot and climb down yet no boar only a cave in the cliff face which they enter guessing its inside.Instead of the boar they find skull,bone and greenstone so Rewi warns Earl about the cave being tapu due to its contents then departs continuing the hunt leaving Earl loading his bag with greenstone.
Earl gets a ride along the way home by some mates whom they exchange a few LSD tabs for greenstone.Later that evening as Earls washing up he notices a figure out the corner of his eye outside the window..
As Earls watching his favourite program he sees the figure through the reflection of the t.v. but when he looks no ones there.He locks the house and searches every inch yet doesnt find anyone,, Indenial he assumes its just the LSD finally kicking in.
Next day Earls woken by Rewi whom slept in the forest because he'd tripped and was knocked unconcious and waked this morning.He says "I dreamt of an old maori kuia with long white hair, a moko on her chin and eyes as black as night the size of an owl's tried to kill me, so guessed it was coz we'd entered that cave".......
