Eli Sheldon is an aspiring Leeston mime artist who just can’t seem to catch a break. He runs a local mime troupe with his sister Janina, which although it only gets small audiences, provides an enjoyable outlet for its members' creativity.
But trouble looms as the town mayor gives property developer “Murph” Murphy permission to build a new block of offices over the site of the troupe’s community hall. The prospect of “putting Leeston on the map” excites everyone except Eli and his crew. They organise a region-wide mime contest to help drum up funds to buy the site back, but Murph brings in world-champion mime Silencio to take them out. Eli must rally the entire town together, from the punks to the pensioners, to save Community Hall from its demise.
