Shanon Smith is no ordinary man. All of his life he has been blessed with a curse. He suffers from Hyperacusis, a rare hearing disorder. He can hear noises no-one else can hear. They overpower him they control him, they define him. One mans life, defined by sound.

Shanon spends his days looking after his mother, a shut in who hasn't let the house since her husband died in a car accident.

Life is a dreary existence for Shanon, eeking out a living in the cracks of society. He is content to let life pass him by, being careful not to be seen. Then one day his life is changed forever when fate brings him in touch with Monique, a young woman who sees in him his true worth.
