“You know those things that run past the corner of your eye? The ones you turn your head and their not there? You’ve seen them? The dark shadows.”

In this world there is another, hidden from human eyes, but there are those known as hunters that have the gift to see. Years ago, hunters were given the task and abilities to protect the two worlds and keep the humans from ever knowing the truth, for this other world contained creatures of myth, creatures that are the very image of nightmares. For years the hunters have tried to keep the dark shadows a secret, but many of the hunters left to integrate with society, hiding themselves and trying to live normal life’s but the dark shadows can always see the marked.

Alexis has always known of this world but after losing her family to snatchers she has done her best to keep away from the dark shadows, but as she starts seeing her brother she realizes that something is coming and when her friend is taken she must embrace her genes to save her friend from the snatchers, lower world thugs answering to powerful masters. She learns a terrible fact; the dark shadows no longer want to hide from the world. Now they seek out the first born of every gifted family, changing them, creating an army to over throw the hunters and humans. Alexis must use her past in order to save her friend in time and discover that not everything is what it seems.

How far will she go to save a friend? What other secrets hide in the dark?
