Tired of being caught up in the hierarchy of nursing and being assaulted by patients, Joey James, usually a cautious person, quits her job and walks out the same day.
The next morning, her phone rings and she is offered what seems to be a dream job. Within 24 hours Joey arrives at a grand estate on the edge of Lake Wanaka to look after an elderly lady who appears to be getting frailer every day. As the days go by Joey makes friends on the estate, but after overhearing a conversation in a Wanaka café something sets her nerves on edge. She becomes convinced that something bad is happening.
Joey starts to snoop around and slowly uncovers a past murder, a murder in the process of being committed and much more.
As the people involved become aware Joey is uncovering their plans, an attempt is made on her life. Suddenly she is not only trying to save someone else’s life, she is trying to save her own.
