This Little Light of Mine

A “Fixed Shadow Films” FILM
WRITTEN BY Phoebe Gittins & Arty Papageorgiou

One morning, a seemingly normal eight-year old boy wakes up, gets dressed, has his breakfast and stabs his mother...

Six years later, his mother receives a phone call – her son is coming home. Deemed rehabilitated, declared under-age and with nowhere to go, he must be returned to her care.

Austin Grieves was highly schooled in the art of counseling, he had worked hard for his doctorate and it had come with high honors. A few years later and Grieves felt an itch creep across his skin. He wanted what was promised by the ink on his certificate… He wanted this case.

It was ambitious and it was ground-breaking and he knew it. He wanted to feel the fear in that house - to ease the distrust that hid in every dark corner. He wanted to see what six years of tension looked like, to take it and wring it out in an explosive reunion.

Grieves wanted to awaken that unshakeable love every mother has for her child. But mostly, he wanted to give the boy back his innocence.

Grieves always knew there was more than what the file had to tell, but when he begins to ask questions, he finds that those who keep secrets will do anything to keep them hidden.

Faced with forces of pious faith and soullessness, Grieves fights to bring the truth to light. There’s just one other problem - the patient... It was the boy, wasn't it?
