What Grows Up

A “Uglet & Co.” FILM
WRITTEN BY Juliet Williams

Free from the school regime, local hero and mischievous prankster Jack is intent on living his legend - but there's a fine line between awesomeness and trouble with the law...

School might be out, but quiet, serious Kat's more locked in than ever. Can she overcome her family's secret and take control of her own future?

Miri is a bit lost, so hasn't applied for any courses yet, (don't tell her mother,) and when she tries to have a little fun, she finds adulthood isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Meanwhile her zombie-obsessed twin, Wiremu, uses movie cliches to make sense of their lives - but he may have pulled the biggest con of all.

Intending to take summer by the balls, the crew are awash with possibilities which threaten to rip them apart. Hanging together, they realise you can't have the best time of your life before you've begun living it.

WHAT GROWS UP is an hilarious caper through the potential and drama of today's not-quite-adults. Audience the age of the characters will see themselves and their world reflected on screen, while those who can remember the spectre of Bursary will enjoy a nostalgic walk down memory lane. Featuring classic Kiwi moments, quotable dialogue and laughs aplenty, this will be a collaborative film using talented up-and-coming crew, while showcasing outstanding young actors and the city of Auckland.
