Corpse de Ballet

When three ambitious dance students are invited to join a mysterious European ballet troupe, little do they realise that in order to dance, they will first have to die.

A “Mark Rayner” FILM
WRITTEN BY Mark Rayner

“Oh my God! Do you guys, you know...eat human flesh?”

“We’re dancers. We don’t eat anything.”

When wisecracking Margot, scatter-brained Issy and down-to-earth Anna, three talented and ambitious dance students, attend a performance of "Les Diaboliques", a demonic ballet performed by the mysterious European troupe "Les Ballets de Petite Mort", they are mesmerised by the haunting and brilliant artistry on stage, but when Prima ballerina Anastasia Minsk suddenly snaps her ankle (backwards) during the climax of the performance, this triggers Margot's ruthless desire to take her place as lead dancer.

Seeing Anastasia’s misfortune as her big break, Margot hustles her way backstage, with her two friends in tow, to meet the sinister Madam Ustura, formidable owner of the company, and handsome lead male dancer Vlad. To Margot's annoyance, Madam agrees to audition all three girls for the role, but when Anna discovers from the dancers of the Corps de Ballet that the troupe is cast entirely from the undead and any 'warm' recruits into the company must first be garrotted by Vlad, so begins the trio’s terrifying and hilarious descent into a hellish backstage world of ballet, back-stabbing and blood.
