Ripple

When a reclusive poet moves to the small town of Ripple Bay, she soon realizes that it isn’t the idyllic hideaway she hoped for. Some say the water there is treacherous, some say haunted. When people near her begin drowning in the bay she is dragged into an age-old mystery. Not only will she unlock the town’s dark past but she’ll also reveal a family secret about who she really is.

A “Daryl Belbin” FILM
WRITTEN BY Daryl Belbin

Reclusive poet Irene Barker (20s) is beautiful but withdrawn. She walks with a stick due to a mild case of cerebral palsy, which has given her low self esteem and discomfort around people.

Irene leaves her successful life as a poet in New York after being rejected by her longtime lover. Keen to be away from ‘people’ she returns to her hometown in New Zealand, which she left when she was five.

She moves in to her dead grandmother’s house (the vicarage of a disused church) overlooking the idyllic Ripple Bay, only to realize that things are not what they seem.

People are scared of Ripple Bay – some say the water there is treacherous, some say haunted.

Irene’s arrival in the bay awakens a dark force that has lain dormant for over a hundred years. The spirits are vengeful, moving inland within a blood rain, enticing victims down into Ripple Bay’s murky depths.

As Irene sets out to unravel the age-old mystery, she’ll also bring to the surface family secrets that reveal who she really is.
